The third Interregional seminar of the TOURBO project - "Boosting the transition pathway of MSMEs in tourism with green and digital transformation" -  funded by the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 programme, was held in Ancona, Italy on the 24-25 September 2024.

Ms. Svetlana Borisova, International Cooperation Expert at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vratsa, represented the Chamber. Ms. Krasina Radomirska, a representative of the Municipality of Chuprene, and Ms. Hristina Kirilova, Director of the Regional Historical Museum of Vidin, also participated as stakeholders.

The project, which will continue until mid-2027, aims to create a stable and progressive framework for integrating the sustainable tourism sector into local and regional policies, especially with the aim of transitioning MSMEs towards smart and green transformation through the quadruple-helix approach.

The project involves 8 partners from Spain, Finland, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Germany, Croatia, and Ireland, with Spain (Seville Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Navigation) as the lead partner.

The main objective of the event was to promote the green and digital transition of micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in the tourism sector. During the meeting, many interesting presentations were given related to the tourism development policy in the Marche region, with a particular focus on the integration of sustainable and digital solutions. Presentations on the carbon calculator for businesses, presented by Failte Ireland, and the innovative "Amazon Business Ecosystem in Europe", presented by the PORA agency, were particularly useful.

A thematic seminar/workshop was organized and held where partners discussed the policy instruments included in the project. Some of the representatives of the stakeholder group, who are the main drivers of policy change, also participated in this discussion. The discussion was productive and and all partners shared what could be changed in the selected national instrument, what the challenges are, and consequently, what the opportunities for change are.

Participation in this seminar not only enriched our professional knowledge but also gave us the opportunity to see real examples of successful green and digital transformation in the tourism sector. The experiences related to the site visits were extremely inspiring.
