On 1–2 December 2025, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vratsa (CCI Vratsa) took part in the 66th edition of the international trade fair MIG (Mostra Internazionale del Gelato Artigianale) in Longarone, Italy. The participation took place within the framework of the GELATOn the ROAD project, implemented under the Creative Europe Programme. MIG is one of the most important European events dedicated to artisanal gelato, bringing together producers, partners and guests from across Europe, united by a shared vision of sustainable, high-quality and authentic gelato.
CCI Vratsa was represented by Ms Iliana Filipova, Chair of the Board, and Ms Svetlana Borisova, Project Manager, who actively participated in working sessions, partner meetings and discussions related to the project’s progress.
As part of MIG 2025, Longarone Fiere, the project’s lead partner, officially opened the programme with a focus on Longarone’s role as a historic centre of Italian gelato. This was followed by a greeting from the European Commission, which highlighted the progress achieved and the significant contribution of the project partnership. During the event, the newly registered EUIPO Quality Mark for the European Road of Gelato (ERoG) was presented, confirming the high standards and European recognition of the initiative.
One of the key highlights was the final of the “Sustainable Scoops” Competition, where the Bulgarian participant GELATOMIO from Pomorie — national winner of the first stage of the competition in Bulgaria, held earlier this year in Plovdiv — impressed the jury, partners and audience with its innovative and sustainable flavour. The team presented a unique gelato combining lavender, honey and beeswax, blending Bulgarian tradition with modern gastronomy. The product attracted strong interest, received excellent evaluations from the jury and visitors, and was tasted with great enthusiasm. The Bulgarian gelato sold out in a very short time — clear evidence not only of its outstanding taste, but also of GELATOMIO’s ability to transform sustainable ideas into an appealing culinary product.
During the visit, a partners’ meeting was also held, where the achieved results were reviewed and the next steps for the development of the initiative were outlined. Another important highlight was the presentation of the digitised Luca Caviezel & Carlo Pozzi Archive, now accessible via the project website (https://gelatontheroad.eu/archive/). The archive represents a valuable contribution to the cultural and professional heritage of artisanal gelato.
The participation of CCI Vratsa and the strong performance of GELATOMIO demonstrate Bulgaria’s growing presence on the European gelato map and support ongoing efforts to promote sustainable, high-quality and authentic culinary traditions across Europe.
