On 25 August 2026, the Fifth Stakeholder Meeting under the project “Activating Citizens Towards healthy lifestyles in Vital EU-regions with Innovative Data-driven solutions (ACTIVE ID)” was held in Vratsa, organized by the Vratsa Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The event brought together representatives of the Vratsa District Administration, as well as representatives of sports clubs and organizations active in volleyball, judo, basketball, football, water polo, sports dancing and wrestling, together with representatives of the tourism sector.
The meeting opened with an overview of the progress achieved under ACTIVE ID and the presentation of the proposal for establishing a structured mechanism for the participation of the sports sector in the implementation of the Regional Tourism Development Strategy of Vratsa District 2021–2027. The proposal aims to ensure more systematic involvement of sports organizations in discussions and initiatives related to sports, active and sustainable tourism in the region.
Representatives of the Vratsa District Administration presented the functions and activities of the Regional Tourism Council, the opportunities for stakeholder participation, and the practical aspects that should be considered when introducing future representation of the sports sector.
During the working discussion “How can we organize sustainable participation and representation of the sports sector in the Regional Tourism Council?”, participants discussed the role and responsibilities of future representatives, the main topics they should raise, ways of maintaining communication with other sports organizations, and the conditions needed to ensure that the mechanism operates effectively and sustainably.
Sports organizations were also introduced to an Expression of Interest and Participation Card, giving them the opportunity to indicate their interest in taking part in further consultations and to share their preferences regarding future interaction and communication within the proposed mechanism.
The feedback collected during the discussion and through the participation cards will be analyzed and used in the next stages of the process – further specification and validation of the mechanism, identification of sports-sector representatives, and their subsequent presentation to the Regional Tourism Council.
The ACTIVE ID project continues to promote stronger cooperation between sport, tourism, public institutions and local stakeholders in order to support sustainable solutions for active lifestyles and regional development.
