The Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Vratsa participated in the second partnership meeting and study visit of the project "Reindustrialisation Following the Brownfield is Better than Greenfield Principle" (ReInd-BBG) on September 30 and October 1 2024, in Vienna, Austria.
The project is funded by the European Commission's Interreg Danube Region (2021-2027) programme and is implemented by a consortium of 16 partners from Slovenia, Bulgaria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Austria, Serbia, Romania, and Montenegro.
The project aim is to improve the institutional capacities of public authorities and stakeholders in the Danube Region and reduce socio-economic and administrative fragmentation in spatial, economic and environmental transformation processes through territorial demonstrations of brownfield reindustrialization and applying the 4H approach.
During the meeting, the opportunities, challenges, as well as the strengths and weaknesses of the selected pilot locations of the project partners were discussed and analysed. On the following day, as part of the study visit, a visit was organized to the developed urban area "Nordbahnhof area" in Vienna. Afterwards, the currently under construction urban area "Seestadt Aspern" was visited. On-site presentations were given on the conditions and the idea for the development of the urban area.
