From February 11-13, 2025, in Mytilene, Greece, the fourth Interregional peer review for the "TOURBO" project took place. The project aims to boost the transition pathway of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in tourism towards green and digital transformation, funded under the Interreg Europe 2021-2027 program.

Representing the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vratsa was Ms. Svetlana Borisova, Expert in International Cooperation. Also participating were Ms. Olya Genova from "Vratsa Balkan" Nature Park and Ms. Siliya Ivanova from the Vratsa Regional Administration, an associated project partner.

The project, set to continue until mid-2027, seeks to establish a stable and progressive framework for integrating a sustainable tourism sector into local and regional policies. This includes facilitating the transition of MSMEs towards intelligent and ecological transformation through a quadruple-helix approach.

The project involves 8 partners from Spain, Finland, Bulgaria, Italy, Greece, Germany, Croatia, and Ireland, led by Spain (Seville Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Navigation). The Northern Aegean region hosted the fourth interregional seminar focused on tourism development, sustainability, and innovation.

During the meeting in Lesvos Island, participants were briefed on the island's tourism characteristics, where it ranks third in Greece in terms of tourist spending, with an average stay of 8 days—more than popular destinations like Santorini, Corfu, and Crete. Discussions centered on sustainable development, digitalization, and innovation as pivotal for the region's future, featuring pilot projects and best practices from other European regions.

In Molyvos Cultural Center, innovative digital solutions for tourism were showcased, including a parking reservation application. The event concluded with workshops on policy instruments and the transfer of best practices among partners, culminating in discussions on future steps for tourism development and the implementation of sustainable and digital solutions in the sector.
