On 29 September 2026, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vratsa officially opened the exhibition “Stories in Frames: The Undiscovered Beauty of Bistrets and Zgorigrad” as part of the activities under the project “People Powered Tourism: empowerment of local communities through co-designing experience based transformative travel to enhance visitor economy”, funded by the Interreg Danube Region Programme 2021–2027.
The exhibition was officially opened by Ms Maya Milova, Executive Director and Project Coordinator, and Ms Gergana Konova, Projects and Programmes Expert. The event, held at the Youth house – Vratsa, was attended by representatives of local media, guests, and the authors of some of the selected photographs.
The exhibition features 10 original photographs selected through the photo initiative of the same name. The photographs showcase locations along the two pilot routes developed within the project – “Along the Path of Traditions” in Bistrets neighbourhood and “Journey Through the Hidden Valley” in the village of Zgorigrad. The aim is to promote the two locations and encourage greater interest among both residents and visitors to Vratsa.
The exhibition will remain open until 13 October 2026, with free admission for all visitors.
The People Powered Tourism project partnership includes 14 organisations from 10 countries in Central and South-Eastern Europe and is led by the Municipality of Szeged, Hungary. The project addresses contemporary challenges in tourism by introducing a “visitor economy” model – an economy that places visitors and local communities at the centre of development. This approach turns people into the main driver of sustainable development, highlighting the importance of human relationships, local identities and personalised experiences that bring added value to the local economy.
