CCI Vratsa takes an active part in the SymbioTech Knowledge Camp in Ostrava, Czechia

From 20 to 22 October 2026, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vratsa took part in the Knowledge Camp organised within the SymbioTech project – “The European Alliance for Advancing Circular Economy via Industrial Digital Symbiosis”, and hosted by VSB – Technical University of Ostrava, Czech Republic.

The main objective of the Knowledge Camp was to prepare project partners and external experts in their role as future trainers for the upcoming pilot phase of the project. During the event, participants became familiar with the training materials, methodologies and digital tools developed within SymbioTech, which will be tested and applied in real training and workplace environments.

The programme included presentations of the SymbioTech AI-Assisted Platform and the SymbioEnergy Tool, as well as practical sessions covering the developed training modules on industrial symbiosis, Life Cycle Assessment, inter-organisational relations, artificial intelligence and machine learning, blockchain technologies, energy management, and environmental management systems.

Within the module developed by CCI Vratsa and dedicated to Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) principles, Ms Ekaterina Nikolova facilitated the interactive practical activity “LCA Evidence Challenge”. Working on a realistic case study, participants assessed whether a claim concerning environmental benefits was supported by sufficiently reliable evidence. The main emphasis was on moving from information to evidence, from evidence to interpretation, and from interpretation to an evidence-based decision and responsible communication.

A significant part of the event was also dedicated to the preparation of the upcoming Work-Based Learning (WBL) activities, which will be implemented in real workplace settings with the involvement of companies. The pilot phase will provide an opportunity to test the training resources and digital tools developed within the project in practice and to further improve them based on feedback from trainers, participants and companies.

As leader of Work Package 6 Communication, Dissemination and Exploitation, CCI Vratsa also presented the progress of the communication activities during Period 4, with a focus on their monitoring and reporting, as well as the main tasks and responsibilities of the partners for the upcoming Period 5.

The Knowledge Camp in Ostrava marked an important step towards the next phase of SymbioTech implementation – the practical piloting of the developed training approaches and tools and their application in support of industrial symbiosis and the circular economy.
