On 27th November 2024, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry - Vratsa held a third stakeholder meeting dedicated to the development of tourism in the region. The event is part of the international TOURBO project, which aims to help small and medium-sized enterprises in the tourism sector transition to greener and more innovative solutions.
The meeting was attended by representatives of Vratsa Municipality, Vratsa Regional Administration, tourism organizations, clubs, and active citizens. They discussed how the region can benefit from innovations and sustainable practices for tourism development.
Particular emphasis was placed on successful examples from Finland and Italy, as well as the Bulgarian DiGiPARKS project, which connects the Vratsa Balkan and Iron Gates Natural Parks through an innovative tourist product. These examples demonstrate how technology and sustainable practices can transform tourism, attracting new visitors and supporting local communities.
Key directions from the Tourism Development Strategy for Vratsa Region for the period 2021-2027 were also presented, outlining the priorities for turning the region into an even more attractive destination. Ideas for better use of digital technologies and for preserving the region's natural and cultural heritage were also discussed.
This meeting is another step towards building Vratsa as a model for sustainable tourism that not only preserves natural and cultural resources but also creates new economic opportunities for the local community.
The TOURBO project provides a unique opportunity to unite the efforts of local authorities, tourism organizations, and citizens to achieve a common vision - tourism that is green, digital, and sustainable.
